Taguig, a city of Metropolitan Manila, is situated at the northwestern shore of the picturesque Laguna de Bay, at the upper mouth of the legendary Pasig River also known as the Napindan Channel through which Laguna drains its floodwaters. It is bounded on the North by the town of Pateros and City of Pasig of Metropolitan Manila; on the East by the town of Taytay of the province of Rizal and the Laguna Lake; on the South by the Laguna Lake and the City of Muntinlupa of Metropolitan Manila; and on the West by the cities of Parañaque, Makati, Pasay, and all of Metropolitan Manila.
The total land area of the City of Taguig consists of 4,728.69 hectares (47.28 square kilometers) as shown in Figure 1.

The City of Taguig population has increased 4x in 3 decades. There are 266,637 registered Taguigeños in 1990, and it almost doubled its number in 2000 with 467,375. While there is a small difference in 2007 with 613,343 and in 2010 with 644,473. The same scenario can also be seen in 2015 with 804,915 and in 2020 with 886,722.

In 2020, there are 443,918 registered male Taguigeños which is equivalent to 50.3% of the overall population. While there are 438,704 registered female Taguigeños which is equivalent to 49.7% of the overall population.

In 2020, most residents in the City of Taguig are between 15 to 64 years old, representing the working-age population. There are also a lot of young residents aged 0 to 14, showing a sizable youth population. While fewer, the elderly, aged 65 and above, still make up a notable part of the City's residents.

The City of Taguig age distribution shows most residents are young with the highest number seen in aged 20-29 years old, followed by those aged 10-19 years old. Starting from aged 40 years old and above, there is a noticeable drop in population with the smallest group aged 80 and above.
