Hon. Maria Laarni "Lani" Cayetano

City Mayor

Maria Laarni “Lani” Cayetano is the Mayor of the City of Taguig Philippines.

She is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at Centro Escolar University and finished a special course in Innovative and Developmental Local Governance and Policy Making for Local Chief Executives and Legislators at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.

At 22, she founded the Progressive Ladies’ League of the Philippines, an organization that promotes women’s rights and welfare, and at 23, she established Angat Lahat Multi-Purpose Cooperative, a cooperative that gives people various livelihood undertakings as an alternative source of income.

Known as “Ate Lani,” she started her political career in Taguig City in 2007. At 25, she became the youngest and first female Congresswoman of the 1st District.

At 28, she became the youngest and first female Mayor. She served three consecutive terms– 2010, 2013, and 2016.

From 2019 to 2022, she served as the Congresswoman of the 2nd District.
